  • Alexander Apostolides
    Researcher at the CCAF and the European University Cyprus specialising on the MENA
    Dr Alexander Apostolides is researcher at the Cambridge Centre for Alternative Finance (CCAF) and the European University Cyprus specialising on the MENA – MED region and the global regulatory responses to fintech innovation. He was recently the lead author of the 3rd World Bank and CCAF regulatory survey.

    Alexander was previously the Economics and EU officer in the British High Commission, Nicosia until December 2020. He was until February 2018 an Assistant Professor in Economic History and Chair of the Department of Accounting, Finance and Economics, European University Cyprus.


    Alexander also has active interests in peace economics, being a co-author in a range of publications relating to the peace dividend in Cyprus. Other research interests span the financial technology regulation, historical GDP estimation, and the economics of Riots. He served as a member of the National Economic Council of President Anastasiades from 2013 until 2017.
